Hepes Hemisodium is a zwitterionic buffer that is used in cell culture, electrophoresis and molecular biology applications. HEPES Hemisodium is useful in biochemical reaction because it is chemically stable and has very little effects within a reaction. It is considered an ideal buffer because of its high solubility factor and because it has a pKa value that is between 6.0 and 8.0.
