Guanidine Thiocyanate is a strong chaotropic protein denaturant, and is intended for use in isolation of nucleic acid. Guanidine Thiocyanate prevents activity of RNase and DNase enzymes by denaturing them. It is also used in the isolation of RNA from cell extracts.
